Aside from the odd contract or two a week the Duffle Bags haven't had much to dig through lately, until Thursday morning, with a fresh arrival from Texas A&M.
The Aggies are coming off of a run the the NIT Championship game after an 8-game losing streak proved to be too deep of a hole to dig out of in their efforts to earn an NCAA Tournament bid.
Last season's Aggies non-conference schedule lacked the meat to bolster their resume with 7 of their opponents outside the KenPom Top 200 but based on the contracts pulled out of the duffle bag Texas A&M could be setting themselves up for another thin non-conference Resume.
The Aggies open with a pair of guarantee home games before playing in the Myrtle Beach Invitational. Expect Texas A&M's first-round match-up to be a favorable one as ESPN would not want to get in the way of an Aggies appearance in the semi-finals. Division 1 debutant Texas A&M-Commerce visits College Station Thanksgiving Weekend and a return game at Tulane closes out November.
The home-and-home signed with Oregon State looked much better on paper a year ago, with the Beavers coming off an Elite 8 appearance, but unless there is a serious bounce back then the Beavers will blend in with all the guarantee game opponents like Lamar.
The biggest news is that Memphis and the Aggies have signed up for a two-year series, a game that will have an impact on both teams tournament chances in March. Perennial Southern Conference contender Wofford visits just before Christmas, before inviting Northwestern State and Prairie View A&M for a 3-game homestand
The Aggies are signed up for 13 non-conference games, which combined with the 18-game SEC slate does not leave room for a place in the Big 12/SEC Challenge.
