Nice to meet you, I'm Charles. An avid college basketball fan and mechanical engineer.
I grew up in southeast North Carolina, rooting for the (almost) hometown UNC Wilmington Seahawks as well as Duke. I began my college education at UNC Charlotte in 2005 and have been a full blooded Charlotte 49er fan since my first game. Since the beginning of my relationship with Charlotte coincided with an exceptionally long (and ongoing) NCAA Tournament dry spell, the contents of Charlotte's non-conference schedule was always a puzzle I yearned to solve as soon as possible every season.
In 2011, however, my efforts let me down as an opponent on Charlotte's schedule slipped through my field of vision for a week before Charlotte had released their own schedule. Vowing to never be caught off guard again I built a document I would use to make sure no stone was left un-turned. A year later I realized that other people might like this information and started posting updates to Reddit. After a few years of good engagement on Reddit I formed @TheD1Docket Twitter account and moved my activity there. Since taking the show to Twitter I have expanded my efforts to include sending FOIA requests to any school that will listen, working with coaching staffs to gather information and work shopping a ratings system.
When I put my first spreadsheet together I was a bachelor in an apartment and Charlotte hadn't been to an NCAA Tournament in 8 years. Now, I am married with two lovely children and Charlotte hasn't been to an NCAA Tournament in 15 years, life comes at you fast but tournament bids sure don't.
Enjoy!
