Two Virginia schools released their contracts to The D1 Docket in the last week, the Interstate 81 corridor neighbors of VMI and Radford also happen to be playing each other for just the 3rd time since VMI departed the Big South for the Southern Conference in 2014.
Both teams are also playing in MTE's hosted by other in-commonwealth institutions. Radford will visit William & Mary for a 3-team MTE, also facing Army West Point in Williamsburg while VMI will visit Longwood for a 4-team MTE which also includes SIU-Edwardsville and Fairleigh Dickinson.

VMI will open the season with two Atlantic 10 Guarantee games in the first week, with trips to Richmond and Davidson. A visit from Navy will start the month of December, while a trip to the Bronx for a 3rd Atlantic 10 guarantee game at Fordham will be the Keydets final game before Christmas.
